Wisconsin head coach Luke Fickell and his staff did it again last night. After landing four star corner Omillio Agard from Philadelphia, the Badgers currently sit with four of these four star players according to 247 Sports. Agard sticks out because he had offers from other top schools such as Penn State, Clemson, and Tennessee. It may not sound like a lot, but that is already a successful recruiting season for the first year head coach. Over the last few years, fans have wanted to see Wisconsin grab these players when they have other offers from top schools. We are seeing it now and it’s impressive that it’s from a first year head coach. With the addition of Agard, here is where the Badgers 2024 class ranks among the rest.
247 Sports
247 Sports now has the Badgers as the 30th overall 2024 class. The de-commitment of Rob Booker from Waunakee does hurt as he was a four star tight end who recently committed to UCLA shortly after de-committing from Wisconsin. Nevertheless, Wisconsin also has some border line four star recruits as well in Derek Jensen, Thomas Heiberger, and Jay Harper. What’s also great is Wisconsin is attacking the secondary in this class. Agard is a corner as is Harper. The Badgers also have two safeties in Raphael Dunn and Kahmir Prescott. It’s been a need they have had to address and they’re doing it.
On3
On3 is another site I like to look into when looking at recruiting rankings. Similar to 247 Sports, On3 ranks Wisconsin as the 27th overall 2024 class. They do have the Badgers ranked seventh in the Big Ten. However, I don’t look at that as much as the overall rankings. One reason I don’t is because some schools will have a higher ranking because they have more commits. As time goes along, those will change.
Rivals
Uw Football Spring Practice 5 March 25 2023
The other site I like to look into in Rivals. Rivals ranks the Badgers as having the 23rd overall class. Again, the overall ranking doesn’t really matter to me right now. One reason is Minnesota. The Golden Gophers have eight more commits (they have 23 and the Badgers have 15) and Minnesota has one four start in their class. According to Rivals, the Badgers have six four stars. Right now, it’s the quantity over quality reasons. Make no mistake about it, the Badgers have a really good 2024 class coming in even when they were unable to land the top five prospects in the state of Wisconsin. I also expect that to change beginning in 2025.
