Only 16 days remain until the Wisconsin Football team opens their 2023 season. They will open the season September 2 against the Buffalo Bulls. If you research what to expect from this team, it’s that they are slight favorites to win the Big Ten West.
With the new coaching staff and number of transfer portal additions and departures, this team will look different especially on the offensive side. Here are my bold predictions for the Wisconsin Badgers this season.
Wisconsin Football Goes Undefeated On The Road
This would be quite an accomplishment if the Badgers were able to pull this off. The reason I say this is because the two toughest games on the schedule (Iowa and Ohio State) are both at home.
This is no disrespect to the road opponents. This year, Wisconsin travels to Washington State, Purdue, Indiana, Illinois, and Minnesota. The easiest road game in this bunch is likely Indiana.
Purdue, Illinois, and Minnesota all have a lot of players to replace from a season ago. There was a ton of seniors and talent on both sides of the ball. While Wisconsin has to replace bodies and talent as well, I think Wisconsin got better than these teams.
Wisconsin Plays In A New Year’s Six Bowl Game
If you look at current bowl projections in college football, you’ll find three Big Ten teams projected to play in a New Years Six bowl game. That would be Ohio State, Michigan, and Penn State. To be honest, I am not sure why Wisconsin is being slept on.
I also believe Wisconsin Football has a good chance to win anywhere from 9-11 games. If they do that, I like their chances to play in the Big Ten Championship.
Ohio State, Michigan, and Penn State all play in the Big Ten East. Only one of those three teams will play in the championship. One of these teams will likely have two conference losses as well. Assuming the Badgers win 10 or 11 games, they would have get the nod for a bid over one of those teams from the Big Ten East.
Braelon Allen Runs For Over 1,500 Yards
This might be the biggest reach of my predictions However, I do think this is a legitimate possibility. In his first two years at Wisconsin, Braelon Allen has ran for over 800 yards when the box is crowded (at least eight defenders). That is very impressive.
If the air raid offense does what it’s intended to do, Allen shouldn’t have to worry about loaded boxes as often as he’s use to seeing. I can only imagine what Allen can do for this Wisconsin Football team if he’s able to have success with less defenders in his face.
Wisconsin Football Has Two Receivers Reach 1,000 Yards
Tanner Mordecai was not brought in to hand the ball off 30 times a game. Phil Longo was not brought in to be a run first offense. These two are brought in to throw the ball over the field.
The depth chart at receiver is much better than it has been in the past as well. The group of Chimere Dike, Skyler Bell, C,J, Williams, Bryson Green, Keontez Lewis, and Will Pauling is one of the best groups in the Big Ten.
It’s hard to say which two will have 1,000 yard seasons because of the talent. However, if I had to guess, I will go with Chimere Dike and C.J. Williams. Dike is the veteran of the group and Williams has the highest upside and is arguably the most talented receiver too.
