The Wisconsin football staff has been pushing hard to land more commitments in their 2024 recruiting class as of late while many recruits set commitment dates.
One particular recruit, four-star edge Anelu Lafaele, has already completed a handful of official visits. After getting a chance to talk with the staff in Madison, the recruit could potentially be close to announcing his commitment. Lafaele is ranked as the 32nd edge rusher in 2024 with programs like Arizona State, Washington, and Hawaii rounding out his major interests.
Wisconsin Football: Anelu Lafaele Could Be The Missing Piece In The 2024 Recruiting Class
The Wisconsin football staff had previously felt that after adding another edge rusher, they would be set at that position. If this still remains to be true, then Wisconsin is going to want to fill that spot with the commitment of Anelu Lafaele. Lafaele is currently ranked as the second overall recruit in Hawaii with deep connections to multiple programs. The exceptional edge rusher has been rather silent about where he is in the decision-making process, but after completing all of his official visits that may change.
What currently seems to be the top four programs for the edge rusher consists of Wisconsin, Arizona State, Hawaii, and Washington. One key for Lafaele throughout his recruiting process is making sure his collegiate destination will feel like home. Washington defensive line coach Inoke Breckterfield is a former CFL player who was born and raised in Honolulu, Lafaele’s hometown. The University of Hawaii is also located in Honolulu, which is presumably a major reason as to why they have had so much success recruiting the four-star edge rusher.
The Wisconsin Badgers football team has established a Hawaiian pipeline over the years with players like Nick Herbig, Utah transfer Kamo’i Latu, and Trech Kekahuna, who is a friend of Lafaele. Wisconsin still has plenty of work ahead of them to land the exceptional player, but his commitment may come sooner than later.
As many of the 2024 recruits have already found their destination, Lafaele may try to do the same since completing his official visits.
