During the Big Ten Conference media day, Wisconsin football Head Coach Luke Fickell asserted the goal is to win a championship, but will the Badgers be able to follow through?
Coach Fickell entered the media day full of confidence and swagger as he told reporters all about the future success of the team. Fickell and his staff have all the confidence in the world in their team. After putting together a stellar transfer class and adding to an already strong team, the Badgers hope to contend for serious hardware. However, before the team contends for a National Championship, can they win a Big Ten Championship?
Wisconsin Football Eager to Prove Doubters Wrong During First Year Under Luke Fickell

The Luke Fickell era of Wisconsin football is bound to start its first series of trials shortly. With camp just around the corner, the season will approach faster than anyone can prepare for, but the Badgers will need to be ready. Fickell is bound to put out one of his most all-around teams he has coached onto the field in 2023 due to the amount of talent the staff has brought in.
Clearly, you need plenty of talent to win games at the collegiate level, which Wisconsin football has focused heavily upon. Transfers Tanner Mordecai, Jeff Pietrowski, Darian Varner, and Joe Huber among many others will provide potentially major boosts to the program. Nyzier Fourqurean and CJ Williams are also two transfers who are bound to make an impact for the Badgers in 2023.
Between the new talent that has been added and the players who were already on the roster, Wisconsin is going to have a strong team. However, it will take more than a strong team for Wisconsin to compete against the likes of Ohio State, Michigan, and Penn State for the elusive Big Ten Championship title.
Realistically, it would be an extremely impressive feat for Wisconsin football to take home the Big Ten title in Fickell’s first season. Yet, it is not entirely out of the questions due to the balance the team and staff has between competitiveness and readiness.
Wisconsin is prepared for everything that will be thrown their way under the guidance of Luke Fickell, which might be just what the team needed.
