The Wisconsin Badgers football team received incredible news this past week when one of their top recruiting targets announced his final four schools.

Koy Beasley, a 2024 four-star recruit from Ohio, is one of the top defensive backs in the class in the Badgers eyes. Beasley has already scheduled official visits with Wisconsin and Purdue for next month. Along with that, Beasley has also set his official commitment date for June 28th. Wisconsin still has plenty of work to do to land the exceptional recruit.

After a tumultuous experience trying to land a transfer defensive back, the focus is back on the 2024 and 2025 recruiting classes. For the Badgers, the talented Koy Beasley has been at the forefront of their recruiting efforts. Beasley, coming in at 6-foot, 180-pounds, is primarily a safety with the experience and ability to also play wide receiver and corner back.

Beasley has been a pretty active recruit, making multiple visits to both Purdue and Pittsburgh already. Beasley also has an official visit scheduled with the Boilermakers, however it is after his visit to Madison. The defensive back has yet to visit Madison, which puts more pressure on the Badgers staff to make a good impression. With 20 offers on the table for Beasley currently, the recruit quickly developed his top four programs before receiving any other offers.

The final four that the recruit announced this past week included Purdue, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, and Wisconsin. While Purdue, Pittsburgh, and Wisconsin seem to be competing against each other for Beasley, Rutgers could be the team to watch out for. Scarlet Knights coach Greg Schiano is an aggressive recruiter and has already gone after the state of Wisconsin with tenacity. Schiano landed 2024 three-star linebacker Sam Pilof from the state of Wisconsin last month, which marked a major recruiting win for the program.

Following the commitment of Nyzier Fourqurean, the Badgers seemed to turn their attention back to their recruiting classes. Fourqurean is an exceptional talent with plenty of experience at Division II program Grand Valley State University, but comes with two-years of eligibility left. College football has put the Badgers into a unique position, where they both need to compete and stock up for the future as well. Many programs struggle with this balance, but the ones that successfully navigate through garner the most success.

Currently, Beasley ranks as the 17th safety in the 2024 class and the seventh recruit in the state of Ohio. Beasley is also ranked as the 216th prospect nationally. The exceptional defensive back is the highest ranking safety that the Badgers are close to, following Jacob Oden and Xavier Filsaime both committing elsewhere. After Beasley, there is quite a drop-off in talent for the Badgers recruiting targets, which makes impressing Beasley much more important.

The Wisconsin Badgers football staff still has plenty of work ahead of them to land the defensive back. However, given their dedication and the latest announcement from Beasley, it seems as though the team is closer to landing Beasley than many think.
