Zach Kinziger, a De Pere native who is unranked in the 2025 recruiting class, is the first commitment in the class for the Badgers. Kinziger helped his high school go undefeated and win a State Title a season ago, and now he makes a childhood dream come true as he commits to the Badgers. The talented shooting guard is about to enter his Junior year as he hopes to repeat the same magic from a year ago.

The 6-foot-3-inch shooting guard grew up as a massive Wisconsin Badgers basketball fan, watching countless games and cheering alongside his family. Flash forward to his Junior year in High School, and Kinziger has finally made one of his biggest dreams come true as he announced his shocking commitment to the Badgers. Kinziger led De Pere to a State Title and a 30-win season as a Sophomore last season. Despite his success, Kinziger has not received much attention from many major programs due to his raw ability, but the Badgers hope to develop the recruit into their ideal player.
A season ago, Kinziger averaged 15.4 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 2.9 assists as he shot 43% from the three-point line. The shooting guard has proven himself to be a lethal and calculated sharp-shooter, which could certainly be put to use in Madison.
This upcoming season, Kinziger is expected to transition to point guard. De Pere plans on using Kinziger as a point guard more often to benefit the team and help continue to build his game before reaching college. The guard does not have much experience as a game manager or a facilitator, so the switch during this upcoming season could be a great change for Kinziger moving forward.
How Does Zach Kinziger’s Commitment Impact Wisconsin Basketball?

With the commitment of Kinziger, the Badgers and Greg Gard now have their first commitment to open up the 2025 recruiting class. While Kinziger may not be ranked, he is an excellent system player who should find a role on the team fairly quickly.
Wisconsin already added two players to their 2024 recruiting class with the commitments of Jack Robison and Daniel Freitag. Freitag can push the pace and play versatile basketball on the court, which is why coach Gard truly loves what the recruit brings to the table. Thus far, Kinziger has proven himself to be a lights out shooter, but if he can prove himself to be a versatile guard, the Badgers might have a gem on their hands.
