Wisconsin basketball: The Wisconsin Badgers are already gearing up for the 2024-25 season. So far, they’ve gotten commitments from Jack Robison and Daniel Freitag, who recently announced his decision to remain in Minnesota for his senior year of high school.

One player that still remains atop of Wisconsin’s wish list, however, is four-star forward Jackson McAndrew. It now appears that the Badgers are closing in on the promising young prospect.

In a recent interview, McAndrew talked about his relationship with Badgers head coach Greg Gard. The young man has been in constant communication with Gard and his coaching staff, which just goes to show how heavily invested the Badgers are in McAndrew:

“[Our relationship] has gotten really good, been talking to him and the rest of the staff for a long time and a lot more over the last couple months,” McAndrew shared to Bucky’s 5th Quarter.

Coach Gard has been very open in his recruitment efforts on the 6-foot-8 power forward. According to McAndrew, the veteran shot-caller has had no hesitation in letting him know how much they want him on the squad:

“[Coach Gard’s message to me is that] I’m a big priority for them and would fit in really well in their system. They also like my versatility and skillset and being able to play multiple positions,” McAndrew said.

Coach Gard is obviously doing all he can to recruit the highly-touted forward. Hopefully, all his efforts will not be in vain.

One significant factor in McAndrew’s looming decision is the fact that a couple of his AAU teammates have already committed to Wisconsin. This comes in the form of Daniel Freita and Jack Robison, who happen to be Jackson’s good friends:

“[Daniel Freitag and Jack Robison] both are definitely big factors in it, being my teammates and knowing them for so long,” McAndrew said. “Daniel is one of my best friends and we’ve been talking about teaming up for a long time.”

At this point, it feels like it’s only a matter of time before Jackson McAndrew commits to Wisconsin. Badgers fans are definitely hoping for the same, but until it’s official, anything can still happen.
