Wisconsin basketball recruited Jackson McAndrew as hard as any program in the country. The Plymouth, Minnesota native received one of his first scholarship offers from head coach Greg Gard. Since then, two of the sharpshooting forward’s grassroots teammates committed to the Badgers.
Despite UW making his list of four finalists, McAndrew decided not to play in college alongside his Howard Pulley teammates.

Wisconsin basketball played a significant role in the recruitment of the top-100 prospect wire to wire. After Gard’s early start, the four-star prospect joined Badgers commit (plus McAndrew’s teammate and friend) Daniel Freitag on an additional visit to Madison. Freitag and McAndrew are the two highest-rated prospects from Minnesota in the 2024 class.
In an interview with On3, McAndrew revealed his reasons for committing to Creighton:
“I chose Creighton because of the coaching staff,” he said. “I have a really good relationship with all of them. (The) play style, I feel like it will be a perfect fit. Also, the player development as I think they can help me get to where I want to ultimately be.”
Where Does Wisconsin Basketball Go From Here?
Despite losing out on McAndrew, Gard’s top target in the 2024 class remains uncommitted. Kon Knueppel – a six-foot-five-inch, 200-pound wing – has recently seen his recruitment heat up. The five-star prospect from Milwaukee received scholarship offers from Duke and Alabama this summer. He has official visits scheduled for September with both powerhouse programs.
Wisconsin basketball currently has the 16th-ranked 2024 recruiting class, according to 247Sports. The Badgers rank fourth in the Big Ten. Rutgers, Purdue, and Michigan State comprise the conference’s top three.
