There’s no denying that Milwaukee Bucks veteran Thanasis Antetokounmpo does not have the most stellar reputation in the league. In fact, even some Bucks fans can’t help but make fun of Giannis Antetokounmpo’s older brother whenever the opportunity presents itself.
Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green is well aware of this narrative surrounding Thanasis, and the former Defensive Player of the Year made his thoughts on the matter abundantly clear.
Milwaukee Bucks News: Draymond Green Comes to Thanasis Antetokounmpo’s Defense

In a recent episode of his podcast which had Green interviewing former Bucks guard Jeff Teague, the conversation led to an honest and in-depth discussion of what Thanasis brings to the table for Milwaukee. For his part, Green just had to call out Antetokounmpo’s naysayers as he sounded off on what type of person the Bucks forward is behind the scenes.
“People almost try to make him out to be a clown,” Green said. “I’ve actually gotten to know the person. Very, very, very, very solid good dude. Smart, good dude. I’ve also talked to other people that has played on teams with him. I’ve never heard one bad thing about him as a teammate.”

‘He Can Actually Hoop’

Teague, who had the chance to play alongside Thanasis in their brief run together during the Bucks’ championship-winning season in 2020-21, seconded Green’s thoughts on Antetokounmpo. Teague admitted that he too has found the viral Thanasis lowlights clips to be “super funny,” but the former All-Star also argued that the elder Antetokounmpo truly belongs in the NBA.
“I tell people he can hoop,” Teague said. “He not just there because he’s Giannis’ bro. … He’s a great part of that organization. He makes it run. I’m not gonna lie. He gives that energy but he can actually hoop.”
