Milwaukee Bucks rookie AJ Johnson is far from being a household name in the United States. The fact that the 19-year-old opted to take the international route instead of playing in college in America probably has a lot to do with the same.
The Bucks, however, have invested a lot in the 6-foot-4 shooting guard after using their No. 23 overall pick during the 2024 NBA Draft. There’s currently a lot of excitement surrounding this young man, which has even Bucks icon Brandon Jennings jumping on the hype train.
Milwaukee Bucks News: Brandon Jennings Sounds Off on AJ Johnson
The Bucks suffered a brutal 115-20 loss to the Phoenix Suns on Friday, which turned out to be Milwaukee’s fourth straight defeat in the NBA Summer League. Johnson did have his moments in the game, though, with the rookie finishing with 13 points, four rebounds, and four assists in 22 minutes of action.
Johnson also knocked down three triples in the contest, with one of them, in particular, catching Jennings’ eye.
“I can’t wait to watch this kid in the 414,” Jennings tweeted.

That was a pretty nasty move by Johnson, and Jennings just had to show the young man some love after that.
Johnson won’t be Milwaukee’s savior this coming season as they look to bounce back from a disappointing 2023-24 campaign. Nevertheless, there’s considerable hype surrounding the rookie and what he can bring to the table for his team.
Jennings, for one, is clearly a fan.
