The Green Bay Packers are beginning their 2024 training camp on Monday. The eve of training camp, Sunday night, brought the welcomed news that Green Bay and three-time Pro Bowler Kenny Clark had agreed on a contract extension. Prior to signing the extension, many thought that 2024 would be Clark’s last season with the Packers, who selected him in the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft. Thankfully, he will be in Green and Gold for a few more years.
The morning of training camp brought both good and concerning news for Packers fans. Quarterback Jordan Love, who established himself as the next franchise quarterback with his stellar play last season, is refusing to practice until his contract extension is signed. He is, however, present in Green Bay and participating in team meetings.
While Love is and his agents are working on his contract, other players are returning to the field. One of these players is one of the Packers’ best offensive linemen, who missed all of their offseason programs with an injury.
Green Bay Packers Offensive Lineman Zach Tom Was Activated Off of the PUP List

In the same press conference in which he announced that Love was a hold in at training camp, Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst did give a piece of good news: offensive lineman Zach Tom was being activated off of the physically unable to perform (PUP) list:
Zach Tom will come off PUP and practice today. Tucker Kraft will be a little longer. Both tore their pecs this offseason.

As Matt Schneidman of The Athletic notes above, both Tom and tight end Tucker Kraft tore their pectoral muscles before OTA’s began.
Kraft will need a bit more recovery time before he is activated.
Where Will Green Bay Packers Offensive Lineman Zach Tom Play This Season?

In his rookie season, 2022, Tom did not play much. When he did, he saw snaps at left tackle. Last season, he was the Packers’ starting right tackle. There is no guarantee, however, that he will play either of those positions in 2024.
Tom, like teammate Elgton Jenkins, is capable of playing all five offensive line positions at a high level. For their part, Green Bay views him as a possible Hall of Famer at center, but that position is currently held by Josh Myers.
The right guard position was vacated by Jon Runyan Jr., who signed with the New York Giants in free agency. If the Packers keep Rasheed Walker at left tackle and put Jordan Morgan, their first round pick this year, at right tackle, Tom could end up playing guard.
In any case, the Packers want to put their top five offensive lineman out on the field in their starting lineup. That list will include Tom. Where he will be playing, though, remains to be seen.
