Joey Wiemer has not been in Nashville for long, but the Brewers’ No. 3 prospect (and possible call-up candidate) has made some beautiful sounds with his bat so far. Today, he had a monster outing as he hit his second homer for the Brewers AAA affiliate. This one was a special one because it was a grand slam. Wiemer got a fastball up-and-in on a 2-0 count and he got every stitch of it. He sent it over the green monster in left field against the Durham Bulls. Wiemer is currently hitting .258 for the Sounds in 18 games at the AAA level. He finished the game 3-for-4 with a homer and five RBI.

Wiemer is ranked as the Brewers’ No. 3 prospect according to MLB Pipeline he is one of only three current Brewers prospects ranked in MLB’s Top 100 prospects, joining fellow outfielders Jackson Chourio and Sal Frelick. Hopefully, we get to see these guys showcase their talents at the major league level sooner than later. Wiemer was named as the Brewers minor league player of the year last season as he starred at Low-A Carolina.
