Bill Belichick’s postgame handshakes typically last roughly five seconds on a good day. However, Aaron Rogers has a way of bringing out the chatty side of Belichick.
After Sunday’s loss to the Packers, the New England Patriots head coach shared an almost 30-second conversation with Rodgers, which is an eternity by Bill’s standards.
The two NFL legends and future Hall of Famers share mutual respect. But it was eye-opening to see Belichick spend time talking to Rogers, an opposing player, particularly after a loss.

So, what were these gushing over? A reporter tasked Rogers to share what they discussed, but he quickly declined to let the cat out of the bag. However, he revealed that he and Belichick spoke before and after the game.
“Before the game, we shared some words. Having some private conversations occasionally is nice,” Rogers told reporters. “He came over, we were in throwing line, had a nice embrace, then shared some words alternating.”
Their conversation comes on the heels of Roger’s admission that Belichick’s the greatest NFL coach. He went on to dub Belichick a “living legend.”
Likewise, Belichick was full of praise for Rogers when explaining how the New England Patriots lost the game. The Patriots coach threw bouquets at Rogers, crediting the quarterback for the game’s outcome. The four-time most valuable player passed for 251 yards and two touchdowns in Packer’s 27-24 win over the Patriots.
“Rogers was just too good,” Belichick said. “He made some incredible throws that only Rodgers can make. We enjoyed pretty good coverage, and he was too smart, good, and accurate.”
If Sunday’s game was the last encounter between Rodgers and Belichick in an NFL game, then the two superstars went out on friendly terms.
