After a six game road trip against divisional foes in the Cubs and Cardinals, the Milwaukee Brewers now travel home for another three games series vs the Cubs.
In the last Brewers/Cubs series tempers flared but the Brewers were able to win two out of three games. Key pitching performances from Freddy Peralta and Brandon Woodruff paved the way, but the offense was rather undesirable.
Thankfully, the Brewers offense has exploded since then and has scored 18 runs in their last two games. The biggest lineup changes to the Brewers offense since then is that they are without second basemen Kolton Wong and shortstop Orlando Arcia. Wong was placed on the injured list with an oblique injury while Arcia was traded.
Including the last meeting, the Brewers have won four out of their last six games and are looking to continue this momentum. On the other hand the Cubs have been won just two times in their last six games and are looking to get back on track.
The first two games in this series will showcase a pair of pitching rematches. Freddy Peralta and Adbert Alzolay will matchup again as well as Brandon Woodruff and Kyle Hendricks.
The Brewers did come out victorious last series in both of these pitcher show downs. Peralta pitched five innings of one hit baseball while Woodruff flirted with a no hitter. Both pitchers are looking to expand upon a great start to the season.
On the bump for the series finale will be pitchers Corbin Burnes and Jake Arrieta. Burnes has been making history in his first two starts, but this will be his first time seeing the Cubs this season.
Games one and two of this series will be night games with a 6:40pm CT first pitch. The third and final game will begin at 12:40pm CT. This series will be played at American Family Fields in which tailgating will be permitted! I encourage all Brewer fans to go out and cheer this week if they are able!
