The Green Bay Packers seem to be as healthy as they’ve been all season. Even with Sammy Watkins on IR. The Packers’ latest injury report only had two players listed on it. OT Caleb Jones OUT, and CB Jaire Alexander QUESTIONABLE. However, with Alexander questionable Green Bay decided to make a change at the Cornerback position.
Packers Elevate CB Kiondre Thomas:
The Packers have elevated cornerback Kiondre Thomas from the practice squad for Sunday’s game against the New England Patriots. Thomas spent most of training camp running buried on the depth chart. He played with with the No. 3 defense mostly. This was behind Keisean Nixon, Shemar Jean-Charles and Rico Gafford. He did however, play a lot in the preseason. According to Pro Football Focus, he allowed 1-of-7 passing for 8 yards. His 59.0 snaps per reception ranked No. 1 among all corners in the preseason (minimum 30 coverage snaps).
Last week we saw Keisean Nixon play at an extremely high level when Jaire Alexander went out. Both on defense and special team Nixon played extremely well. If Jaire Alexander isn’t able to play tomorrow, Nixon will be asked to play along side Rasul Douglas and Eric Stokes once again. This will open up special team opportunities and maybe even some defensive opportunities for Kiondre Thomas.
