Packers Fans have wanted Amari Rodgers gone for a while
The Green Bay Packers made an unsurprising move Tuesday afternoon. The team announced they had released wide receiver, Amari Rodgers. It was Rodgers’ second season with the Packers, as he was the team’s 2021 third-round selection. Packers fans appeared to welcome the decision.
In two years with the franchise, Rodgers hasn’t been a great fit for the Packers. He leaves the Packers with seven fumbles. Rodgers had only eight catches. Fans had wanted the Packers to cut or trade Rodgers for the past several weeks.
It made sense for the Packers. Rodgers is a talented athlete. But he was never great at special teams. Rodgers didn’t fit in with the Packers’ offense for whatever reason. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers didn’t seem too fond of the Clemson product. Amari will probably be a fine receiver for another team with a new start, but the Packers needed to move on if they weren’t going to use him at wide receiver.
However, this move won’t look good if Amari excels at wide receiver with another team in the next year or so and Aaron retires after this season without making the playoffs. He might have made a solid wide receiver if Aaron wasn’t stubborn with his treatment of Amari.
What a wasted draft pick https://t.co/3UhG3vCHEZ

The Rodgers cut was inevitable. You can't have a WR6 on your roster who is incapable of playing special teams.

The Kylin Hill move seems really strange as Jones and Dillon are now the only RBs on the Packers' roster. Eno Benjamin incoming? 👀 https://t.co/Hpr9aYVVZt

Have we considered that Green Bay just can’t develop receivers? https://t.co/DEp7bPwbtl

He deserved to lose his job. He's cost the team in 5 different games out of 10 https://t.co/F0rnxy9y8h

Yikes, I was all for getting him off punt returns but he showed some promise when he was used as a WR https://t.co/ONkg4BnkFD
