As of this writing, the Texans have not signed Nelson.
Per the Badgers website, Nelson recorded 127 tackles, 11 tackles for losss, one sack, four interceptions, and 16 pass breakups during his career at Wisconsin. He earned consensus All-Big Ten honorable mention for his play in the 2021 season.
Nelson was initially signed by the Seattle Seahawks as a UDFA in 2022. He spent time with the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Steelers waived Nelson in June.
We’ll see if Nelson’s performance Monday earned him a bid from the Texans. He should see more opportunities through the preseason and regular season as injuries start to pile up on defensive secondaries.
