Kirk Cousins gave an honest response to Justin Jefferson’s snub this week. The Minnesota Vikings wide receiver gave his list of top-five NFL quarterbacks heading into the 2023 season. Cousins didn’t crack Jefferson’s top five.
Jefferson’s looked like a typical list an allays would have. Patrick Mahomes, Aaron Rodgers, Joe Burrow, Jalen Hurts, and Josh Allen are Jefferson’s top picks at the quarterback position.
NFL News: Kirk Cousins responds to Justin Jefferson’s comment
Cousins was asked about Jefferson’s opinion during his appearance on KFAN-FM 100.3’s Power Trip Morning Show. According to a transcript by Sports Illustrated, Cousins hadn’t seen the video until the radio interview. Cousins said he appreciated Jefferson’s honesty, and Cousins would make it his goal to get in Jefferson’s top-five list this season:
“I didn’t even see it. This is the first time hearing about it,” Cousins answered. “As a competitor, yeah, you always want that. People have to be honest and share what they think and I’m not going to tell somebody what they need to think and hopefully in 2024 I’ll be on his list. We’ll see what we can do this year.”
Cousins could have a better year for the Minnesota Vikings in 2023
Cousins understands he’s not a top-five quarterback coming into this season. Cousins’ rating went down significantly in 2022 after three straight seasons with a rating over 100.
Per the new Netflix documentary “Quarterback”, it was revealed Cousins played through a rib injury last season. Maybe he can get back to his normal self this season while healthy.
Still not sure that would make Cousins a top-five quarterback.
