NFL News: Aaron Rodgers Brings New York Jets Another Costly Preseason Headache

The New York Jets knew what the risk was to their preseason when they traded for Aaron Rodgers this April. Rodgers would bring extra publicity to the largest media market in the US. The Jets are now being forced into participating in a preseason activity they publicly said they didn’t want to do.

NFL News: Aaron Rodgers & New York Jets get Hard Knocked

According to Adam Schefter with ESPN, the Jets will be the main feature on HBO’s Hard Knocks.

NFL and NFL Films have selected the New York Jets to serve as this year’s team on Hard Knocks, per sources.

Mike Florio with NBC Sports had dropped a major clue the Jets would be the hosts this summer. He reported a couple of weeks ago the Jets were preparing to be filmed by Hard Knocks.

The Jets, Chicago Bears, Washington Commanders, and New Orleans Saints were all teams that could not refuse to be on this show this season. Because of the Rodgers trade, most NFL fans and HBO producers hoped to have the Jets on the show.

According to Ryan Dunleavy of the New York Post, Jets head coach Robert Saleh said the team didn’t want to participate.

“I know there are several teams that would love for ‘Hard Knocks’ to be in their building. We’re just not one of them,” Saleh said.

They have no choice now. But they do have Rodgers, a media and limelight-addicted quarterback. And the cameras and interviews will be a distraction for a team with many new players brought in for a high-risk venture to win a Super Bowl.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Are the Jets on Hard Knocks?

Yes, the New York Jets are featured on the 18th edition of “HARD KNOCKS: TRAINING CAMP”. The award-winning series follows head coach Robert Saleh as he prepares a roster of talented young players and experienced veterans for the upcoming season at their training camp in Florham Park, New Jersey.

    What is the Jets curse?

The New York Jets curse is a local legend that suggests Joe Namath, a New York Jets legend, made a deal with the devil to win Super Bowl III, resulting in a lack of future success for the franchise. However, no substantial evidence supports this claim, making it merely a myth.

    How does Hard Knocks work?

Hard Knocks works by selecting NFL teams based on their specific criteria. If a team has a first-year head coach, made the playoffs in the past two seasons, or has not been featured yet on the show in the past 10 years, they can avoid being on Hard Knocks. This formula ensures a fresh perspective for viewers and gives teams a chance to opt out of it.
