The Green Bay Packers will have a very deep wide-receiving core entering the 2024 season. General manager Brian Gutekunst did not draft a wide receiver in the 2024 NFL Draft, which was the right move by him. They did not need help at the position because they have four quality wide receivers on the roster and maybe more depending on who you ask.
It will be interesting to see which wide receivers will be healthy on the field this season and who will not be. No wide receivers on the roster had over 1,000 yards receiving a season ago, but some of them have the potential to accomplish that in 2024.
According to Freddie Boston of Lombardiavenue.com, the projected Packers depth chart heading into training camp has Christian Watson, Romeo Doubs, and Jayden Reed as the starting wide receivers on the roster heading into 2024. Watson is listed with the first unit after being injured for most of last season means that the franchise has faith in him to turn it around in year three.
Green Bay Packers Have Depth at the Wide Receiver Position Outside Of the Starters
It appears as if outside of the top three wide receivers on the roster, the Packers will have depth at the position once again this season. The second tier of wide receivers on the depth chart entering training camp will be Dontayvion Wicks, Bo Melton, and Malik Heath. Wicks stepped up last season when Christian Watson was injured and some people think that Dontayvion Wicks could work with the 1’s at some point during training camp.
Other than Jayden Reed, Wicks had great chemistry with quarterback Jordan Love a season ago. Malik Heath and Bo Melton as the fifth and sixth wide receivers is a nice luxury to have. Heath played in a few games last season for the Green Bay Packers and was an undrafted free agent from Ole Miss.
As for Bo Melton, he stepped up when a couple of wide receivers were out due to injury during Week 17 against the Minnesota Vikings. Bo Melton had over 100 yards receiving in that game and he was the first wide receiver during that season to go over 100 yards for the Packers. Jayden Reed went over 100 yards receiving the following week against the Chicago Bears to help the Packers eliminate them from playoff contention.
Grant DuBose and Samori Toure will be listed as the third-string wide receivers for the Green Bay Packers entering training camp. They both will most likely not make the roster this season because it is such a strong group of young and talented wide receivers. The potential is there for this wide receiver room in 2024 as long as they stay healthy and don’t get banged up.
