Aaron Rodgers gave a blunt response to a question about the New York Jets participating in HBO’s Hard Knocks series this preseason. Fans mocked Rodgers’ response to getting more airtime.
Head coach Robert Saleh said the team did not want to be on Hard Knocks this year. The Jets’ feelings didn’t matter, as they were one of the four teams eligible to appear who could not refuse to be shown.
NFL News: Aaron Rodgers complains about more cameras…on camera
Vern Glenn with CBS asked Rodgers, on camera, how the star quarterback felt about more cameras being at their training camp starting next week. Rodgers, dressed in a purple golf polo and hat at the American Century Championship tournament, said he knew why the Jets were a hot item for the show’s producers, but it still felt like they were being forced to comply.
“I understand the appeal with us,” Rodgers said. “Obviously, there’s a lot of eyes on me, a lot of eyes on our team. A lot of expectations on our squad. So, they forced it down our throats, and we’ve got to deal with it.”

Rodgers is the last person in the NFL who should be complaining about television cameras. He goes out of his way to find them. Rodgers’ unique propensity to find and put his face in front of a camera sensor drove Green Bay Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst crazy in the last couple of years.
“Certainly, whenever a player may have issues, you prefer that they talk to you directly and not do it in the media,” Gutekunst said at the League Annual Meeting per Bill Huber with Sports Illustrated, “but that’s not necessarily the way he goes about, it and that’s OK. But, yeah, those things aren’t of our concern.”
Rodgers hasn’t been and won’t be a hermit with the Jets.

He just wanted to quietly fit in with his new team that got dragged out publicly for months that included an announcement on a popular You Tube show and play in the #1 media market in the country. Why are they doing this to him? https://t.co/uQDXVgHfQF

This bout to be the worst season of Hard Knocks we’ve ever seen.
It wouldn’t surprise me if a camera ends up “missing”, a producer gets cussed out or Rodgers and Wilson throwing lasers at the cameramen on some “Longest Yard” ish. https://t.co/HcFRNqIt9C— Anthony (@MooseMaxwell31) July 14, 2023
Yep…that’s kind of the deal with Hard Knocks and the NFL. If the team has sucked for years, they can make you be on it. Sorry you went to a bad franchise. https://t.co/oBOjTQKNJ7
