NFL: The Green Bay Packers are heading into the 2023 season with high expectations for their defense. Maybe more so than any other year of recent memory, the Packers will be relying on their defense to win games. Jordan Love and this young Packers offense has created a lot of excitement in Green Bay so far, however, no one knows how long it will take for them to get clicking during the regular season. That being said, the Packers have added another linebacker to their roster.
Green Bay Packers Sign Line Backer Marvin Pierre (NFL)
Linebacker Marvin Pierre signed with the Arizona Cardinals after he was not selected in the 2023 NFL draft. He played collegiately at Kent State. His stint with the Cardinals didn’t last long, as he was released on June 8 after the team was awarded a waiver claim for cornerback Kyler McMichael.
Pierre (6-2, 222) is a rookie out of Kent State. He played in 25 games in two seasons (2021-22) at Kent State and recorded 149 tackles (86 solo), 11 tackles for a loss, 2.5 sacks, an interception and two forced fumbles. Pierre transferred to Kent State from Murray State, where he played in 2020 and collected 29 tackles (17 solo), four tackles for a loss, a sack, an interception, a pass defensed and a forced fumble.
Prior to Murray State, he played one season (2019) at Butler Community College and redshirted in 2018 at Fort Scott Community College. He will wear No. 54 for the Packers.
