The Milwaukee Brewers have hit the Major League Baseball All-Star Break with a record of 49-42. They are one game back of the Cincinnati Reds for the division lead, a feat that is really quite astounding given the injuries to their starting pitching and the inconsistency of their offense.

Indeed, the Brewers, who have a -9 run differential on the season, have been finding ways to win using players that otherwise would not be given a second thought. One of those players is recently signed infielder/outfielder Jahami Jones.

Milwaukee Brewers Coaches Have an Interesting Connection to Jahmai Jones
A recent article posted by The Athletic praised the Brewers for finding players that have flown under the radar, yet have produced for their team. When discussing Jones, the authors revealed a fun piece of trivia that links Jones to manager Craig Counsell and bench coach Pat Murphy:
“There was more to Jones’ backstory as well. His father, the late Andre Jones, was a starting outside linebacker on Notre Dame’s 1988 national championship football team. Brewers bench coach Pat Murphy was the Notre Dame baseball coach at the time. Manager Craig Counsell was one of Murphy’s players.”
Andre Jones played one season in the NFL with the Detroit Lions. Unfortunately, he passed away in 2011 from a brain aneurysm.
So far, Jahmai Jones has played in four games with the Brewers and has two hits in four at bats. He also has a walk and stolen base.
