Patrick Beverley has always been a magnet for controversy during his time in the NBA. But things went to another level, though, when the Milwaukee Bucks star was involved in a pair of incidents during Game 6 of their series against the Indiana Pacers.
In that game, All-Star guard Damian Lillard returned to the lineup and tried to lift the Bucks up for a deciding Game 7. Unfortunately, his presence was still not enough as the Tyrese Haliburton-led squad came out on top with a 120-98 victory right in their home court.
After the game, Beverley was being interviewed in a scrum. He then asked ESPN producer Malinda Adams whether she has subscribed to his podcast, a question she answered no. From there, the Bucks guard refused to answer her questions and asked Adams to leave.
This caused ESPN and other media personalities to criticize Beverley for his disrespect towards Adams. The Bucks and their controversial guard respectively reached out to the producer. Fortunately, Adams accepted their apology and continued to exhibit professionalism in that incident.
What Indiana Pacers Fan Said To Milwaukee Bucks Guard Patrick Beverley In Game 6
Along with disrespecting Adams, Beverley was involved in another incident before Game 6 ended. Beverley engaged with fans in the stands behind them and threw the ball twice towards their direction. As posted by Shams Charania on X, the exact exchange that led to Beverley throwing the ball has been revealed.
“Sources: The exchange between Patrick Beverley and one of the fans in Indianapolis escalated when the Bucks were breaking huddle Thursday night, and the fan yelled, “Cancún…Cancún on 3.”
NBA is looking into Beverley’s exchange with fans in game and media postgame, per source,” Charania tweeted.
While the postgame scrum incident with Adams has been resolved, Beverley’s decision to engage with fans in a physical manner has yet to be decided by the NBA. Most fans are expecting a harsh fine or suspension from the league due to the Bucks guard’s actions.
For his part, Beverley already apologized for his antics. In any case, there’s bound to be repercussions soon for the Milwaukee star.
