The Milwaukee Brewers were able to maintain their place tied with the Cincinnati Reds for first in the National League Central Division after defeating the Chicago Cubs 8-6 on Monday. However, it did not seem like Milwaukee was going to win early on.
Starting pitcher Julio Teheran gave up six runs and the Brewers faced a 6-0 deficit early. After clawing back and plating three runs, Milwaukee sent Jahmai Jones to the plate. Jones had been signed earlier in the day as Brian Anderson was placed on the paternity list.
What followed was Major League history.
Milwaukee Brewers Infielder/Outfielder Jahmai Jones Makes Major League History

With the bases load, the Brewers down by three, Jones stepped up to the plate for his first Major League appearance since 2021. He missed all of 2022 recovering from Tommy John surgery and was in the Los Angeles Dodgers’ farm system until he opted out of his minor league deal on July 1.
On the first pitch of his at bat, Jones laced a double to the wall in centerfield, clearing the bases and tying the game. According to OptaStats, it was the first time in Major League history that a player tied a game with a three-run double (or triple) in his first at bat with his new team.

The Brewers tacked on two more runs to make the score 8-6. Devin Williams pitched the ninth for yet another save in his second All-Star season. And perhaps best of all, it came against the Chicago Cubs, whose fans infiltrated American Family Field in droves on Monday.
How good it was to send them home in such a manner. Thank you, Jahmai Jones. And thank you, Dodgers, for letting him go.
