MLB News: Milwaukee Brewers starting pitcher Freddy Peralta seemingly has the Colorado Rockies number. During his MLB debut in 2018 he struck out 13 Rockies batters. A few years later, on August 7, 2023, he tied that career high strikeout total and also generated a franchise record 31 swings and misses.
Freddy Peralta sets Milwaukee Brewers franchise record for swings and misses (during statcast era) against the Colorado Rockies (MLB News).
Brewers beat reports Adam McCalvy and Curt Hogg were all over the amount of swings and misses Freddy Peralta was accumulating as well as statistician Dominic Controneo. His 31 swings and misses surpassed Corbin Burnes (30) for the franchise record. Peralta’s previous all-time high was third in franchise history when he generated 28 whiffs a month ago against the Chicago Cubs.
Additional noteworthy nuggets from this game are that the Brewers struck out 16 total Rockies players and faced just 28 batters. This marked the ninth game in franchise history in which they faced one batter over the minimum in a nine inning game and the third time they only allowed just one base runner.
Thankfully the Brewers offense did explode in this game as they won by a score of 12-1 with the Rockies only run coming via a solo home run. Game two will be Tuesday, August 8 with the first pitch scheduled for 7:10 PM CT. Wade Miley will take the hill and square off against another southpaw in Kyle Freeland.
