The Milwaukee Bucks made it four in a row on Thursday night with another dominant win over the Charlotte Hornets. These two teams faced off again for a second time in three nights after the Bucks annihilated the Hornets on Tuesday, 123-85.
Thursday’s result wasn’t as lopsided as that one, but Milwaukee was still able to flex their supremacy over a hapless Charlotte side via a 111-99 win.
Milwaukee Bucks Coach Doc Rivers Sounds Off on Win Vs. Hornets
After the game, a delighted Doc Rivers spoke to the press to discuss his team’s dominant performance. One particular facet of the game Coach Doc highlighted was how good Milwaukee’s ball movement was. The fact that the players were able to keep the ball moving throughout the contest played a pivotal role in their victory.
Rivers heaped praise on Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard for getting the ball rolling — both figuratively and literally:
“It sure is nice,” Rivers said, via Jim Owczarski of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. “You need your stars to be the guys to make the right plays and they did that. Giannis and Dame started it and Brook tonight, extra passes. Bobby extra passes. Pat Connaughton walked by me in the third quarter and said ‘Is this what you mean by good to great?’ The fact that he’s thinking that is just good for our team. It helps everybody. It’s easy top lay hard on defense when you know the ball is played right on offense.”
Defense has been Rivers’ biggest concern since his arrival, and he’s been putting a lot of effort into making the necessary improvements in this regard. However, there are more than a few other things on his plate, which is why it’s great to see the Bucks taking significant strides in other areas of their game.
Again, this is thanks in large part to the leadership of Giannis and Lillard. They have not ceased reminding their teammates about what needs to be done night in and night out, but perhaps more importantly, they lead by example as well.
“It’s starting to get contagious,” Beasley said. “I think people are excited to be next to their guy because you’re going to get the swing-swing. Bobby had what, four assists tonight and usually they don’t double-team him so the fact that he was able to get it out to us, it was a good feeling.”
