It’s no secret that defense has been a major issue for the Milwaukee Bucks all season long. In fact, this was one of the main reasons why decided to part ways with Adrian Griffin despite the rookie coach holding a 30-13 record before he was given the axe.
Well, the Bucks pretty much destroyed that narrative on Tuesday night as they absolutely shut down the Charlotte Hornets in an astonishing display of defensive prowess in the first half.
Milwaukee Bucks Shut Down Hornets in First Half
26 points. That’s all the Hornets managed in the first half. Not in a quarter, but a full 24-minute half of basketball action.
With this jaw-dropping defensive display, the Bucks have set a new NBA season record for the most points conceded in the first half:
The Hornets' 26 points is the lowest scored by a team in a half this season in the NBA.

The Bucks held the Hornets to 26 points at halftime.
That’s the lowest point total at the break this season in the NBA.

Milwaukee entered the break with a 58-26 lead.
The Hornets had a shocking eight-minute, 26-second scoreless streak in the second quarter, which is obviously pretty insane. Charlotte scored just 10 points in the entire second period.
As a matter of fact, the Bucks were just one point shy of matching the all-time franchise record. On March 3, 1972, Milwaukee held the Philadelphia 76ers to just 25 points. They came extremely close to that mark on Tuesday.
We still have the second half to play, but this is obviously Milwaukee’s game to lose.
