When the Milwaukee Bucks first drafted 18-year old Giannis Antetokounmpo, the city embraced him in such a way that they, in essence, adopted his entire family. Indeed, the now two-time NBA MVP has referenced the way the organization and the city treated him and his family when they first arrived as a big reason why he continues to re-sign with the Bucks amidst media-invented rumors that he wants to play elsewhere.
Since entering the NBA, all three of Giannis’ brothers have followed him to the league. Thanasis Antetokounmpo first played for the New York Knicks before spending the last five seasons with Giannis on the Bucks. Kostas Antetokounmpo won a NBA Championship with the Los Angeles Lakers after spending one season with the Dallas Mavericks.
Alex Antetokounmpo, the youngest, has spent time with the Toronto Raptors and Bucks organizations, but has yet to appear in a NBA game.
Kostas, who has been playing in Europe for the last few seasons, just achieved a feat that only 11 basketball players in history had accomplished before.
Kostas Antetokounmpo, Brother of Milwaukee Bucks Star Giannis Antetokounmpo, Joins an Elite List
Last year, Kostas Antetokounmpo signed with the Greek team Panathinaikos of the Greek Basketball League and Euro League. A couple of days ago, it was reported that Giannis and NBA legend Scottie Pippen were taking in the Euro League Final Four, in which Kostas and Panathinaikos were taking part.
Panathinaikos won their Final Four matchup and advanced to the Finals. On Sunday, they defeated Real Madrid to win the Euro League title. They were led, in part, by former NBA player Kendrick Nunn, who had 21 points.
Former NBA All-Rookie Team member Rudy Fernandez played for Real Madrid.
Kostas only played three minutes and did not record a stat in the box score, but nevertheless the win makes him just the 12th player in history to have a NBA Championship and Euro League Championship.

Following the Bucks’ 2021 NBA Finals victory, reserve guard Elijah Bryant signed with the Turkish team Anadolu Efes. He helped them win the Euro League final in 2022, making him just the second player ever to win a NBA Championship and Euro League Championship in back-to-back seasons. He also became the 11th player to win both.
The others are:
- Bob McAdoo
- Manu Ginobli
- Toni Kukoc (former Bucks player)
- Bill Bradley
- Zan Tabak
- Jim Brewer (the first player to win a NBA Championship and Euro League Championship in back-to-back seasons)
- Rodrigue Beaubois
- Larry Wright
- Josh Powell
