Milwaukee Bucks superstar duo Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard have come a very long way. Even before the season started, there were a lot of question marks surrounding the potential fit between these two alphas — doubts that were magnified as Milwaukee struggled through the start of the season.
Giannis and Dame, however, have been on a different level of late, and they’re beginning to squash any and all uncertainty about their elite partnership.
Milwaukee Bucks Star Damian Lillard Speaks Out on Partnership With Giannis Antetokounmpo
Lillard himself acknowledged that it hasn’t been an easy journey for him in terms of learning how to play alongside the former back-to-back MVP in Milwaukee. He also isn’t denying, however, that the strides they have taken of late are pretty significant:
“I think it’s getting much better,” Lillard said, via Eric Nehm of The Athletic. “To start the season, I think a lot of people wanted it to just click and happen right away. But I think anytime you put two guys together who’ve always been the decision maker, always had the ball in your hands for years and years and years, it’s going to take time for us to learn how to play with each other and learn how to play off of one another.”
That time now appears to be over. It seems that these two All-Stars have finally gotten on the same page, and there is perhaps no better manifestation of the same than the fact that they combined for 69 points on Sunday in Milwaukee’s win over the Los Angeles Clippers.
It goes without saying that if they keep on going at this rate, the Bucks are going to be extremely hard to stop.
