Milwaukee Bucks fans have been raving about their team’s recent acquisition of sharp-shooting two-guard Gary Trent Jr. The 25-year-old was one of the few remaining highly sought-after free agents still available on the market, and the fact that the Bucks snagged him on a minimum deal made the coup even more impressive.
An anonymous NBA executive, however, has now decided to rain on Milwaukee’s parade with a pretty harsh assessment of their latest addition to the squad.
Milwaukee Bucks News: Gary Trent Jr. Is a ‘Below Average’ Defender

NBA insider Gary Woelfel reported on X, formerly Twitter, on Wednesday that he spoke to an anonymous league executive about Milwaukee’s Trent capture. The source was not very kind in his evaluation of the 6-foot-5 guard, particularly on the defensive end.
“Below average. It’s not good,” said the unnamed executive.
Woelfel went on to point out that he believes that the Bucks will have one of the worst defensive backcourt in the NBA this coming season.

The good news for Milwaukee is that Trent is an excellent floor-spacer, which is a proven recipe around Giannis Antetokounmpo. He averaged 2.5 triples per game with the Toronto Raptors last season on a 39.3-percent clip, and he will be looking to bring this offensive threat to the Bucks.
His defense, however, is an altogether different concern.
