The Milwaukee Bucks and Giannis Antetokounmpo needed to pick up a marquee win on the road against the Los Angeles Clippers on Sunday afternoon. Antetokounmpo scored 34 points, grabbed seven rebounds, recorded 10 assists, blocked one shot, and recorded one steal in a 124-117 win for the Bucks over the Clippers.
He was showing why once again he is one of the most dominant players in the league. With the win, Milwaukee improved to 42-23 on the year and they are currently up 0.5 games on the Cleveland Cavaliers for the number two seed in the Eastern Conference.
As for the Los Angeles Clippers, they are the fourth seed with a 41-22 record in the Western Conference. Los Angeles has been hit or miss with their game as of late.
Milwaukee Bucks Giannis Antetokounmpo Trusts Damian Lillard Down the Stretch In This Game and This Is Why This Basketball Team Is Dangerous
Down the stretch, Damian Lillard was the one with the ball in his hands and made clutch shots. He was the Bucks leading scorer in this matchup with 35 points, seven rebounds, and 11 assists. Lillard is one of the best scorers in the NBA.
Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard appear to have their chemistry together in line for this basketball team. After the game was over Lillard told Eric Nehm of The Athletic by saying:
“I think it’s getting much better. To start the season, I think a lot of people wanted it to just click and happen right away. But I think anytime you put two guys together who’ve always been the decision maker, always had the ball in your hands for years and years and years, it’s going to take time for us to learn how to play with each other and learn how to play off of one another. And I think we’re just, first of all, having a lot more dialogue about what I need from him and he’s telling me what he needs for me. And I think our understanding is getting much better. And because of that, I’m able to get to certain spots and I’m using him against the defense and vice versa. When we get the kind of attention that we’ve been getting, where it’s a guy guarding me and his guy is being aggressive and then the help is pulling over to guard whichever one of us ends up with the ball, then the next guy is getting a clean shot.”
The duo of Antetokounmpo and Lillard is going to be dangerous in the playoffs. They won’t be the reason they would lose a playoff series. The thing for the Milwaukee Bucks down the stretch for Doc Rivers’s squad will be who can be that reliable third option for them on a night-to-night basis and it would be huge if Khris Middleton can eventually get healthy.
