Milwaukee Bucks news: Patrick Beverly turned down the opportunity to play on in the NBA in favor of a move abroad.
The 36-year-old is no stranger to playing overseas after having started his professional career in Greece and Russia. This fact, however, was not the main reason why Beverley decided to leave the United States.
Milwaukee Bucks News: Patrick Beverley Agreed to $4 Million Deal

Beverley himself hinted that his decision to leave the NBA was driven by his desire to earn more money. The two-time All-Defensive guard reportedly turned down veteran minimum deals with the Detroit Pistons and the Houston Rockets in favor of what has been labeled as a “historic” contract overseas.
Apparently, that deal came out to the tune of $4 million for two years (h/t Bleacher Report on X, formerly Twitetr):

For what it’s worth, the veteran’s minimum for a 12-year pro such as Beverley would have been $3.3 million per season. However, his new deal with Israeli outfit Hapoel Tel Aviv will pay him $2 million per year. Simple math tells you that that’s roughly $1.3 million less than what he could have earned in the NBA this coming season.
This makes this entire situation a bit more mysterious. Why would Beverley decide to take less money to play abroad?
He did say that he couldn’t turn down Tel Aviv’s offer because they gave him everything he wanted, so perhaps there’s more to this new deal than the $4 million basic salary. Either way, Pat Bev has now moved on and it remains to be seen if we’ll ever see him back in the NBA.
