The Milwaukee Bucks will be facing their toughest test of the season yet when they battle the Boston Celtics on Wednesday night. The same could be the case for the Celtics, who are currently 11-3 to start the campaign.
Unfortunately for Boston, they could be without their most important player for Wednesday’s marquee matchup. This is after four-time All-Star Jayson Tatum suddenly popped up on the injury report ahead of the contest.
This is why the question lingering on the minds of both Milwaukee and Boston fans is this: Is Jayson Tatum playing tonight vs. the Bucks?
Boston Celtics Star Jayson Tatum Questionable to Play Vs. Milwaukee Bucks
Tatum looked perfectly fine during the Celtics’ last outing, which was a 121-118 overtime win over the Charlotte Hornets on Monday. In fact, the 25-year-old erupted for a season-high 45 points against LaMelo Ball and Co. to lead his team to a hard-fought victory over a feisty Charlotte side.
The bad news for Celtics supporters is that Tatum has now been listed as questionable to play on Wednesday against Milwaukee due to an illness. Boston has not provided too many details about the illness other than it is not COVID, but it could be bad enough to force Tatum out of such an important game.
Losing Tatum would be an undeniably huge blow for the Celtics. If he is unable to go, Boston will need to rely heavily on Jaylen Brown to carry the team against Giannis Antetokounmpo and the streaking Bucks. Kristaps Porzingis and Jrue Holiday will also be expected to play bigger roles if Tatum is out.
Milwaukee is just one game behind Boston in the win column entering Wednesday’s showdown as the Bucks look to make it six straight wins.
UPDATE: The Celtics have upgraded Jayson Tatum to available.
