Khris Middleton just came out with what could very well be his best performance of the season for the Milwaukee Bucks on Monday night. The three-time All-Star helped the Bucks secure a 142-129 victory over the Washington Wizards with 18 points, six rebounds, and seven assists in just 23 minutes of action.
In spite of Middleton’s commendable effort, however, there’s no denying that it was Giannis Antetokounmpo who stole the show on Monday night.
Milwaukee Bucks Star Khris Middleton Heaps Praise on Giannis Antetokounmpo
It was Middleton who received the game ball after moving up to No. 4 on the Bucks’ all-time scoring list. However, even the 32-year-old himself will admit that it was Giannis’ heroics that led Milwaukee to their fifth straight win.
Middleton had nothing but good things to say about Antetokounmpo’s strong play of late:
“I just like the way he’s playing right now,” Middleton said, via Eric Nehm of The Athletic. “He’s not settling. And when I say that, that doesn’t mean he’s not settling for jump shots, that means he’s taking what the defense is giving him and he’s putting everything he has into it, whether that’s driving, finding guys, taking his midrange, his 3 a little bit.”
The fact that Giannis is averaging 33.3 points on 70.4 percent shooting, 11.8 rebounds, and 6.5 assists throughout this recent win streak is a clear testament to Middleton’s notion.
Antetokounmpo kept his foot on the gas against the Wizards, scoring 42 points on an amazing 20-of-23 from the floor. According to Middleton, the fact that the Bucks have found a bit more chemistry between them has also been a key factor in Giannis’ hot streak:
“He’s always realized what he has at the rim, but I think he sees a lot of space the way we’re playing right now with Dame out there, myself out there a little bit more and Brook’s spacing and the shooters around,” Middleton said. “Teams are worried about loading up all the way and they’re trying to be cautious about their double teams of when and how. So he’s doing a great job of attacking that one-on-one battle as quickly and efficiently as he can.”
If they keep this going, then there’s no doubt that the Bucks are going to add a lot more wins to their record this season.
