So much has been made about Wednesday’s Eastern Conference showdown between the Milwaukee Bucks and the Boston Celtics. This comes as no surprise considering how these two teams are widely considered heavy favorites to represent the East in this year’s NBA Finals.
However, only one of them can reach the pinnacle this season, and you can be sure that the result of Wednesday’s bout will weigh heavily on the minds of the players and the fans the rest of the way.
Milwaukee Bucks Star Khris Middleton Speaks Out on Boston Celtics Matchup
There is, of course, another layer to all this. Not only will this be the first time the Bucks and the Celtics battle it out this season but also, it will be Jrue Holiday’s first chance to get some revenge against his former team.
After being traded away by the Bucks to the Portland Trail Blazers as part of the Damian Lillard blockbuster deal, Holiday eventually landed with the Boston Celtics, where he’s now expected to play an integral role in the team’s championship aspirations this season.
Milwaukee star Khris Middleton knows Holiday well, and he is adamant that the five-time All-Defense combo guard will be out for some blood come Wednesday night:
“We all know about Jrue,” Middleton said, via Jim Owczarski of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. “So he’s a guy we can’t take lightly or think he’s going to take it easy on us. He’s coming to kick our a**. So, we’re going to be ready for him. We know what he’s all about.”
There’s no bad blood between Holiday and the Bucks, though. This dude is as professional as they come, and while there’s no denying that being shipped off by Milwaukee came as a shock to him, Holiday has now moved on.
This doesn’t mean, however, that he won’t be doing everything in his power to help his team win on Wednesday night. All the friendships will be set aside once the game tips off — on both sides, that is.
