Gilbert Arenas Claims There’s ‘No Positive’ for Doc Rivers on Taking Milwaukee Bucks Head Coaching Job

While the decision to fire Adrian Griffin and replace him with Doc Rivers as the Milwaukee Bucks’ new head coach has its supporters, there are some who aren’t happy with that particular move. One of them is former NBA star point guard Gilbert Arenas.

Before Griffin was let go by the Bucks, he had a 30-13 record this season and placed second in the Eastern Conference. His time as the team’s head coach catapulted the offense to second in the entire league while the defense dropped to 21st place.

This top-seeded offense is made possible due to the acquisition of Damian Lillard over the summer to pair with two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo. With Griffin coaching this All-Star duo, the Bucks managed to rise in the Eastern Conference and become contenders early this season.

As compared to other personalities praising the Milwaukee Bucks’ move, Gilbert Arenas offered a different take on the decision to hire Doc Rivers.

In a video Arenas posted on his X account:

“There’s no positive for Doc here. If you lose…N*gga, this is another team you had as a winning team and you lost again…You win…You gets no credit.”

In the same episode of Lexie’s Arena, Kenyon Martin is wondering why a team that has a system in place and a winning record goes with the firing of its current coach and learn all new plays in the process. Arenas added that Rivers’ past stint with the Philadelphia 76ers reinforces his decision to support the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference instead.

At this point in time, the true reason behind Griffin’s firing hasn’t been revealed. Although the Antetokounmpo brothers are seen as culprits, there isn’t any proof that they influenced this decision.

How Rivers will perform as the Bucks’ new head coach remains to be seen. Keep your eyes out for Milwaukee’s upcoming games to see whether the Antetokounmpo-Lillard synergy will be preserved.
