The Milwaukee Bucks have played the New York Knicks twice in three days. They split the mini-series 1-1, which includes the Knicks’ epic Christmas Day win on Monday, 129-122.
The Bucks return to action on Wednesday when they take on the Brooklyn Nets at the Barclays Center. This means that Milwaukee will spend nearly a week in New York during the holiday season.
Milwaukee Bucks Star Giannis Antetokounmpo Taking Advantage of the Road Trip
One of the best parts of this Christmas trip to New York is that the Bucks organization allowed their players and their staff to bring their families with them to the Big Apple as some sort of family holiday trip. For his part, Giannis Antetokounmpo made sure that he would take advantage of this unique opportunity.
As it turns out, the former back-to-back MVP already planned out the entire trip:
“Obviously I want to bring my family, my kids. The in-laws. But not just the in-laws just from my side, from everybody’s side. From my bothers. Everybody’s going to be there,” Giannis said, via Jim Owczarski of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. “It’s going to be like a huge party. I want to try to go to maybe a Broadway show. I watched the Michael Jackson (show), I watched a couple years ago. It was really good. My brother Thanasis watched Harry Potter. This is a plug right now – if I can get free tickets. Because I look at the tickets, it was $450. For 25 people I don’t know if I can do that. But, yeah, kids going to be there. In-laws. My mom is going to be there. My brother (Alex) is going to be there. He also has a game against the Long Island Nets I think (in the G League). So we’ll be able to celebrate Christmas. Go to the first game, then go to the Christmas game and then go to the Nets game. It’s going to be a few days that everybody’s going to be there.”
Before anything else, $450 a pop for Broadway tickets for 25 people is $11,250. This will set Giannis back significantly, but his deep pockets are more than capable of shelling this amount out.
This all sounds like a fun-filled experience for the Antetokounmpo family. Some, if not most of them will probably experience Christmas in New York for the first time — perhaps even the only time in their lives. Giannis is just making sure that this trip is memorable for everyone.
