It was the Milwaukee Bucks who prevailed on Saturday against the New York Knicks, 130-111, at the Madison Square Garden. These two sides were pitted against each other again on Christmas Day, except that this time around, the Knicks made sure that there was going to be a different outcome.
The Bucks had won all three of their previous meetings against New York this season, but the Knicks just weren’t going to let Milwaukee get another one on them — especially on Christmas Day.
Milwaukee Bucks Star Giannis Antetokounmpo Highlights Silver Lining
After their 129-122 loss on Monday, Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo was vocal about the intensity of their last two matchups against the Knicks. According to the former back-to-bac MVP, the fact that they played twice in the span of three days gave the mini-series a postseason-type vibe.
“It was kind of like a playoff matchup,” Antetokounmpo said, via Jamal Collier of ESPN. “We’ve played this team four times in the past month, month and a half. Two times in the past few days.
“It’s a good test for us. We’re going to play teams in the playoffs twice [on the road], so being able to win the first one, lose the second one, it’s good. We’ll learn from it.”
It was a tough loss for the Bucks, but as Giannis pointed out, the silver lining here is that at least they were able to split the series in Madison Square Garden.
It’s very much possible that Milwaukee will battle the Knicks in the playoffs this season, and the fact that Antetokounmpo and Co. already have a win in MSG gives them a psychological edge over their Eastern Conference foes.
These two teams face off again on April 7 at the Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee in what will be their final regular-season matchup.
