Just when it looked like the Milwaukee Bucks had finally gotten it together under new head coach Doc Rivers when they defeated the Dallas Mavericks on Saturday, they crashed back to Earth on Sunday in a 123-108 defeat at the hands of the Utah Jazz in Salt Lake City. The Bucks had a 12-point lead at the start of the fourth quarter, but a shocking turn of events in the final period resulted in a painful meltdown for Milwaukee.
Brutal Shooting Woes in the 4th Quarter Hurt Milwaukee Bucks in Loss to the Jazz
Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo sounded off about one main issue Milwaukee had in the final 12 minutes of the contest that led to the team’s eventual downfall.
Via ESPN:
“I don’t think it was the energy, I think we need to make shots,” Antetokounmpo said. “It was a lot of wide-open shots that we didn’t make. You make one or two, the momentum stops and it’s a whole different game.”
The Jazz outscored the Milwaukee Bucks in the fourth quarter, 40-13. During that period, the Bucks shot just 23.5 percent from the field, making just four of their 17 attempts from the floor. The Jazz, on the flip side, went off for 15/25 on 60 percent shooting. Damian Lillard and Antetokounmpo combined for only seven points on 2/6 shooting in the fourth.
Overall in the contest, Antetokounmpo scored 33 points on 21/15 shooting from the field.
The Bucks will regroup and will look to finish their road trip on a positive note this Tuesday when they land in The Valley to face Kevin Durant and the Phoenix Suns.
