There was some doubt surrounding Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo’s availability for Wednesday’s matchup against the Brooklyn Nets. This was after the seven-time All-Star suddenly popped up on the injury report with a mysterious right calf injury.
Bucks head coach Adrian Griffin has now confirmed Antetokounmpo’s status for the game, and Milwaukee supporters will be glad to know that the former back-to-back MVP is now good to go.
Milwaukee Bucks Star Giannis Antetokounmpo Will Play Vs. Nets
The Bucks took their time in making their decision, with Coach Griff making the highly-anticipated announcement just a little over an hour before tip-off. Nevertheless, it’s good news for Milwaukee as Antetokounmpo is now set to play against the Nets (h/t Eric Nehm of The Athletic).
Giannis’ calf injury does not appear to be serious. He looked perfectly fine in Milwaukee’s last game as he did everything he could to help lead his team over the New York Knicks on Christmas Day. His effort proved futile, though, with the Knicks escaping with a huge 129-122 victory in their marquee matchup.
Nets Will Be Extremely Shorthanded
It’s going to be much different for the Nets, though. This is after they decided to rule out Cameron Johnson (knee), Spencer Dinwiddie (rest), and Nic Claxton (ankle) with respective injuries. Lonnie Walker IV (hamstring) remains out along with Ben Simmons (back), while Dorian Finney-Smith (knee) has been tagged as questionable.
Needless to say, the Nets are going to be extremely shorthanded against the Bucks on Wednesday night.
