During the Milwaukee Bucks’ loss to the Utah Jazz, all hell almost broke out when Malik Beasley confronted Collin Sexton for landing an elbow on Giannis Antetokounmpo. Doc Rivers drops his take on what happened and how it could have been prevented.
In that particular game, the Jazz rose to the challenge of toppling Milwaukee and succeeded in their effort. All-Star forward Lauri Markkanen led the way with 21 points, three rebounds, and two assists. Meanwhile, Sexton was in his element by adding 19 points in 25 minutes.

The Bucks, on the other hand, were led by Antetokounmpo’s 33 points and Bobby Portis’ 27 points in their loss to Utah. This game dropped Rivers’ coaching record in Milwaukee down to 1-3 after he assumed the position from Joe Prunty and the recently fired Adrian Griffin.
Milwaukee Bucks’ Doc Rivers Drops Honest Take On Malik Beasley-Collin Sexton Scuffle

Shortly before the first half ended, Sexton was seen attacking the basket with Antetokounmpo guarding him. Along the way, the former’s elbow landed on the two-time MVP, effectively sending him to the floor.
This motivated Sexton to taunt Antetokounmpo, an act that led Beasley to confront the Jazz guard. Speaking to the media, Rivers gives his assessment of what went wrong in this specific altercation.
In an article by the Journal Sentinel and tweeted by Jim Owczarski:
“He did it in a smart way – not a flagrant way, you know what I’m saying?” Rivers said. “I thought the whole thing would’ve been over if they just called the out of bounds when Sexton stepped out of bounds on that play. Then none of that happens. But they missed that, which they said they did when they looked at the replay. I didn’t see anything other than; I didn’t see – I don’t think he hit Giannis on purpose. But he did hit him, I think. I’m not even sure in this day, you never know. And then what I thought got Malik upset is Sexton kind of stood over him. That’s where, to me, if you blow the whistle on that, the rest doesn’t happen.”
Fortunately, the scuffle was diffused by players from both teams before it could get worse. Hopefully, may this incident fire up the Bucks more to rack up some wins right before the regular season ends.
