It comes as no surprise that Giannis Antetokounmpo’s future with the Milwaukee Bucks has been put into question now that the team has suffered an early first-round exit for the second season running. What makes this so much worse is that the Bucks are coming off a landscape-shifting summer that saw them go all-in on Damian Lillard via a blockbuster trade. That’s on top of their mid-season hiring of head coach Doc Rivers after Adrian Griffin was given the axe.
Could Giannis actually be considering forcing a move away from Milwaukee this summer? Well, opposing teams from around the league are reportedly praying that this will be the case.
Milwaukee Bucks News: Rival Teams Hoping for Giannis Antetokounmpo Trade
League insider Marc Stein recently added more fire to the trade buzz surrounding Antetokounmpo. According to the renowned NBA guru, teams from around the league are continuing to monitor the former back-to-back MVP’s situation in Milwaukee hoping that Giannis feels that his time with the organization has come to an end:
“Teams are already hoping, crossing their fingers tightly, wishing, praying that Giannis is moved to rethink his future as a Milwaukee Buck, even though it was just last October that the Giannis response to the Damian Lillard trade acquisition was to immediately sign a three-year max extension with Milwaukee, but that’s not going to stop potential Giannis trade suitors from lusting after the idea that he is somehow unsettled there anew,” Stein said on a recent episode of the #thisleague UNCUT podcast (h/t Matt Johnson of Sportsnaut).
To be perfectly clear, there has been no indication from Antetokounmpo that he wants to jump ship. We should expect a statement from the eight-time All-Star in the coming weeks as he looks to set the record straight on his true feelings on his Bucks tenure.
Until then, however, you can be sure that trade rumors are going to be buzzing loudly.
