After spending the first 11 seasons of his career playing for the Portland Trail Blazers, Damian returns to face them as part of the Milwaukee Bucks this time. With a new head coach in Doc Rivers and a two-time MVP in Giannis Antetokounmpo as his running mate, things are certainly different now for the All-Star point guard.
In all the years Lillard spent playing for Portland, he posted elite numbers of 25.2 points, 4.2 rebounds, 6.7 assists, and a single steal per game. Also, the point guard also has seven All-Star Game appearances, seven All-NBA team honors, and a Rookie of the Year award in 2013 during his time as a Trail Blazer.
Unfortunately, Portland never had the chance to construct a championship-level roster around Lillard in all those years. As a result, the Trail Blazers only enjoyed one deep postseason run during the 2018-19 season.
This led to Lillard’s request to be traded, which led to his acquisition by the Milwaukee Bucks. And with Rivers, Antetokounmpo, and more experienced players around him now, things are shaping up to be better than his previous situation in Portland.
Milwaukee Bucks’ Damian Lillard Gets Real On Upcoming Match Against the Portland Trail Blazers
After several months of playing for the Bucks this season, Lillard finds himself about to visit his old team for the first time. Lillard shares his thoughts in an interview posted by Orlando Sanchez on X:
“What made it the hardest is it wasn’t a broken relationship…I come back with love”

As revealed by the All-Star point guard, visiting the place he played in for such a long time isn’t easy at all. According to Lillard, it’s not easy because the relationship remains intact, even if both parties weren’t on the same timeline when it came to winning a ring.
Without a doubt, this game between the Bucks and Trail Blazers will be a fun one to watch. After the previous loss to the Denver Nuggets, this match can be what Lillard needs to find his groove back.
