The Milwaukee Brewers had to call upon Rickie Weeks to be their acting manager for Wednesday’s series finale against the Tampa Bay Rays. Weeks, who has the title of Associate Manager to Pat Murphy, learned about this 20 minutes before the first pitch as Murphy was issued a two game suspension for the brawl that broke out against the Tampa Bay Rays the night before.

Rickie Weeks will be the acting manager for the Milwaukee Brewers next two games.

For two games Weeks will get to be the acting manager for the Brewers. He already has one game underneath his belt as he led Milwaukee to a 7-1 victory and series win over the Rays on Wednesday afternoon. The next time Milwaukee takes the field will be Friday in which Weeks will be the skipper opposing former Brewer Craig Counsell as the two teams will square off at Wrigley Field.
What did Rickie Weeks have to say about the Thyago Vieira glove situation?

With three outs to go in Wednesday’s finale the umpires made Thyago Vieira change his glove. The color scheme was the cited reason for this, but he did wear it in front of the same umpiring crew the night before. Weeks said that after everything that happened the game sped up on Tuesday and the umpires were not able to address Viera’s glove at that time, so attention was brought to it a day later.
Rickie Weeks says the upcoming Chicago Cubs series “is big”.

As of May 1 the Brewers are on top of the National League Central with a 19-11 record. Chicago is a half game behind them at 19-12. Outside of these two teams impressive early season records this series is big for it is the first time that the two organizations will be meeting during the regular season since Craig Counsell’s departure. They did play three games against one another during spring training.
