A lot of fans wrote the Milwaukee Bucks, especially after Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard went down with injuries. Game 5 seemed to be different as Bobby Portis revealed what fueled the team to get the win against the Indiana Pacers.

In that particular game of the series, the Bucks took the 115-92 win over Indiana. Khris Middleton and Bobby Portis came up big for their team when they dropped 29 points in around 39 minutes each on the court. Patrick Beverley outplayed the Pacers’ backcourt when he made 13 points and 12 assists, while Malik Beasley contributed 18 points on 63 percent shooting from the field.

The Pacers, on the other hand, didn’t play that well at all. Tyrese Haliburton led his team with 16 points and six assists while Myles Turner only made 13 points and five boards. The trio of Pascal Siakam, Andrew Nembhard, and Obi Toppin from the bench each had 12 points in Game 5. Furthermore, Indiana made less rebounds and committed more fouls than the Bucks.

The win extended Milwaukee’s season as the series will now go back to Indiana. From there, the Pacers hope to steal the momentum back and eliminate a defiant Bucks team without Lillard or Antetokounmpo.

After the game, Portis spoke to the media and shared what motivated Milwaukee to win Game 5 against the Pacers. In a video shared by Bally Sports Wisconsin on X:

“When you have fun, when the ball moves … it makes the game so much better.”

The absence of Milwaukee’s All-Star duo may have forced the remaining guys to step up and shoulder the workload. Turns out, Portis and the others might have found a formula to win, even without Dame or the Greek Freak.

With Game 6 set to happen soon, the Bucks are hoping to extend the series to a deciding Game 7. If Portis and the others maintain their current mindset, they may have a chance of advancing to the next round.
