The Green Bay Packers have one of the most exciting offenses in the league going into the 2024 season. Jordan Love and the incredible amount of young weapons surrounding him have created a fast-paced, young aerial assault.
While the Packers didn’t add any wide receivers ini the draft, they did convert one who is already on their roster.
The Green Bay Packers Convert QB Alex McGough To Wide Receiver

According to Bill Huber of Packer Central:
Who says you can’t teach an old dog new tricks?
Not that Alex McGough is old, but he is the fifth-oldest player on the Green Bay Packers’ roster. The 28-year-old, who was the practice-squad quarterback last season, will be learning some new tricks, starting at this weekend’s rookie minicamp. McGough shows up at receiver on the updated roster at Packers.com.
Green Bay didn’t add a receiver in the 2024 NFL Draft, nor did it sign one in undrafted free agency. It did draft a quarterback, though: Michael Pratt of Tulane in the seventh round.
Will McGough Compete For A Roster Spot As A Wide Receiver?

The former Florida International player measured 6-foot-3 3/8 inches and 214 pounds when he graduated in 2018. His other measurables, however, were below average when compared with receiver standards. His 40-yard dash time was 4.62 seconds, and his Relative Athletic Score was 3.26.
Following his release by the Seahawks in 2021, he was drafted sixth overall by the Baltimore Stallions in the USFL Draft in 2022.
During the 2023 season, he started as the backup but returned to the lineup when the starter went down with an injury. Stallions won a second consecutive title under his leadership, and he was named MVP. In ten games, he led the USFL in touchdown passes (20) and passer rating (108.3), was third in passing yards (2,104) and sixth in rushing yards (403). With five rushing touchdowns, he finished with a league-record 25 totaal touchdowns.
You don’t hear about quarterbacks being converted to wide receivers very often. McGough is certainly very athletic, it will be interesting to see what type of role he is able to develop in the wide receiving room.
