Bobby Portis scored in double digits off the Milwaukee Bucks bench yet again on Monday night as he helped his team secure a 142-129 victory over the Washington Wizards.
In 14 games played for Milwaukee this season, the veteran has failed to reach double digits in scoring just once, which speaks volumes of Portis’ key role for the second unit.
Bobby Portis Sparks Mob Bench for Milwaukee Bucks
As usual, it was Portis who led the second unit on Monday. The 28-year-old logged 17 points on 8-of-13 shooting, to go along with eight rebounds, an assist, a steal, and one three-pointer in just 23 minutes off the bench.
It was another strong performance from Portis, who now appears to be making a bit of noise in the early race for this season’s Sixth Man of the Year.
Bobby Portis Looking Forward to Celtics Showdown
Much like the rest of the squad, however, Portis was quick to turn the page on Milwaukee’s fifth straight win. Right now, their focus lies on their upcoming showdown against the Boston Celtics on Wednesday night.
This will be, without a doubt, the Bucks’ toughest test of the season thus far, and Portis is already very much looking forward to it:
“I’m ready to hoop against them. I’m ready, man,” Portis said, via Eric Nehm of The Athletic. “It’s going to be a fun game to play in. Obviously, a great story line…I’m a fan of basketball and I can’t wait to get out there on the floor and hoop.”
Apart from the fact that these are two teams that have been dubbed favorites to win it all this season, there’s also an underlying storyline centered around Jrue Holiday facing his former team. You can be sure that Portis is also looking forward to battling his buddy on the basketball court.
