On Thursday night, the Milwaukee Brewers began a four-game series with the San Diego Padres. The first game did not go the way Milwaukee hoped. They took a disdainful 7-6 loss during the bottom of the ninth. Last night, the Brewers led 4-3 after five innings of play. However, the Padres scored six runs in the last three innings to take a wicked 9-5 victory to take a 2-0 lead in the series.
Milwaukee drops to 44-32. They hold that first-place spot in the National League Central division by six games. For San Diego, they move to 40-40 which has them tied for second place in the National League West division with the Arizona Diamondbacks. If the Padres can pull off the sweep, this series may give the team the spark they need to hold down that second-place position in the NL West.
Milwaukee Brewers Wicked 9-5 Loss to the Padres

The first run of this ball game did not come until the bottom of the second inning when Padres center fielder Jackson Merrill hit an RBI fielder’s choice. Milwaukee would break this game wide open by scoring four runs during the top of the fifth. Second baseman Brice Turang hit an infield RBI single to third base. Then, shortstop Willy Adames lined a ground ball RBI single to right field. One batter later, left fielder Christian Yelich also recorded an RBI single, as he ripped the ball to center field. Finally, with two outs and the bases loaded, Brewers first baseman Rhys Hoskins hit an RBI infield single.
Padres Tie the Game Up in the Mid Innings

In the bottom half of the fifth inning, Padres first baseman Luis Arráez crushed a two-run home run to right field, making it a 4-3 ball game. In the next inning, Padres second baseman, and Thursday night’s hero Jake Cronenworth obliterated a solo shot to right field to tie the game up at four. Just a batter later, pinch-hitting designated hitter Donovan Solano dropped an RBI single into center field to give San Diego the lead. Christian Yelich tied the game at five for the Brewers during the top of the seventh inning when he scored after a Padres fielding error.
San Diego Strives and Takes the Win

Once again, Jake Cronenworth would come up big for the Padres. He hit the go-ahead RBI single in the bottom of the seventh to left field. With the bases loaded, Donovan Solano recorded an RBI walk. Padres third baseman Manny Machado scored after a Brewers fielding error during the seventh, and in the eighth, blasted an RBI single to center field. Brewers center fielder Sal Frelick tried to make a diving catch, unfortunately, he just couldn’t hang onto the ball. Milwaukee will hope to win the next two games and tie this four-game series up at two games a piece.
