Recently the Milwaukee Brewers have been lacking in regards to top end third baseman prospects. Tyler Black, the 33rd overall section out of Wright State in the 2021 draft, is looking to buck that trend. So far he is doing a good job as he was recently announced as a top 10 prospect in all of baseball at his position.
Third baseman prospect Tyler Black of the Milwaukee Brewers is a top 10 prospect at his position.
MLB Pipeline made this announcement on Twitter in which they specifically chose to talk about Tyler Black’s 60 grade hit tool from the left side. He also is graded at 40 in regards to power, 55 speed, 45 arm, 45 field, and 50 overall.
The most surprising grading out of this group is his speed. Based on the amount of steals that he is posting this year in Double-A that 55 grade may be very underrated. So far Tyler Black has stolen 39 bases in 55 games.
Additionally statistics that he has at the time of this publication include a .267 batting average, .435 on base percentage, and .476 slugging percentage. Walks are a big part of his game and he does a good job at limiting strikeouts. This season he has 49 times and struck out in just 53 appearances.
It is nice to see Tyler Black getting recognition. The Brewers fifth ranked prospect is having a tremendous season while staying healthy. If he continues on this course his prospect stock should only continue to rise and catch the attention of others.
